Books

The Reunification of the Parthenon Sculptures

Published by the Greek Ministry of Culture, in Greek, it is a very interesting book as it depicts examples of how some of the sculptures will look once they are reunited. It uses acetate paper to superimpose sculptures found in the British Museum with the ones in Greece to show how the reunified pieces would look like. It provides seven such examples plus some general information on the Parthenon. The book also includes a proposal for collaboration with the British Museum regarding the reunification of the Sculptures.

Photographs of the Athenian Acropolis - The Restoration Project

 Published by the Greek Ministry of Culture, in English, it is a collector's book presenting a plethora of black and white photographs taken by Socratis Mavrommatis on the Acropolis of Athens during its ongoing restoration period. It covers the period from 1975 till 2002. It includes photographs not only from the Parthenon but also from the Erechtheion, the Propylaia and the Temple of Athena Nike. It also shows the methods used to restore the sculptures.
